Athetosis

Athetosis is a disease. It is an extra pyramidal sign. It involves slow but continual and twisting changes occur. These changes are first occurred in the face, neck, forearm, wrist and hand. Athetosis is caused due to pregnancy, Rheumatic fever, cerebral palsy, brain cancer, Huntington’s disease, mental retardation, etc. The symptoms of this disease are writhing movements. It mostly affects the hand and feet. If you face the above symptoms, then you will consult your family doctor. After taking the necessary tests, doctors will give the proper treatment. Treatment varies from person to person depends on the affect. If your hand becomes seriously affected, then you need some neurological operations. Part of the spinal cord will be examined carefully for serious attacks. It will give some improvement but not full cure.
